Part of what made the Corvair so unique is the fact that the engine is in the back. And with the new engine placement came a new drive system. Becouse the car was also rear wheel drive it used what is called a trans-axile. This is where the transmission is built in to the axile. Now becouse of the new drive and how it was mounted, a diffrent suspention was develouped. whitch is illustrated here. now in the 60-63 models the suspention was not what it should have been and has presented problems when corners were taken to sharp. However in 64 steps were taken to correct the problem. and by 65 all the bugs had been worked out.
